The Animals in Italian |
The Animals' songs in Italian |
|
In the 60's in Italy it was very common to take English and American songs and make an Italian version. On this page we present a list of the cover songs taken from the production of the number one musical group of the decade. In a first phase (until 1965 ) The Beatles were not so much known in Italy, and only few songs were selected to make a cover song. From '65 on, their songs were very well known in the original version, hence the cover songs (nearly 100) have been proposed essentially by singers and groups of little success mainly to exploit the notoriety of the original. |

The attention to the production of the group led by Eric Burdon has been lower in Italy than that applied to other British bands of the 60s as the Kinks and the Rolling Stones, apart from their super classic The House Of The Rising Sun, but a fair number of their songs were translated in Italian. The most interested appears to have been Riki Maiocchi, the front-man of the well known beat group I Camaleonti, who also was the first to translate their popular song of 1964 known in Italy as "La casa del sole" (the House of the sun). There were nevertheless many other versions in Italian of this song during the sixties, as listed above. Note that almost all of the Animals chart successes were in turn covers. The success arrived thanks to their skills in the arrangement and for the charisma and determination of their singer and front-man, the little big man Eric Burdon. |
