The Them in Italian

HOME

In the 60's in Italy it was very common to take English and American songs and make an Italian version. On this page we present a list of the cover songs taken from the production of the number one musical group of the decade. In a first phase (until 1965 ) The Beatles were tnot so much known in Italy, and only few songs were selected to make a cover song. From '65 on, their songs were very well known in the original version, hence the cover songs (nearly 100) have been proposed essentially by singers and groups of little success mainly to exploit the notoriety of the original.

Although they were not so well known in Italy, the 45rpm singles and sometimes the LPs of The Them arrived in our in Italy, through international radio (such as Radio Luxembourg ) or musical journalists and other ways, and a fair number of theur songs was chosen as the basis for Italian versions, which usually were quite far from the powerful blues rock of Van Morrison and his comrades from Belfast. Also it was ignored their powerful and effective success Gloria.
