You've Got Mail - Nora Ephron (1998) |
The
brilliant movie of a director specializing in clever comedies, had the
target to help the revival of Meg Ryan after the almost flop of French
Kiss, this time alongside the actor number one in Hollywood,
Tom Hanks,
rather than a
Kevin Kline decidedly out of role. The film put together
all the ingredients for the success: a subject of great interest, which
is focused around Internet that enters the world of everyday life, but
at the same time with an eye to the past by means of the library (for
children) out of time managed by Meg Ryan. A library that is in
competition with the cultural industry guided by the marketing of the
book (and by Hanks as big manager in it), who will open a new large
store two blocks away. |
The Soundtrack |
|
Just as much attention was paid to the soundtrack by the director Nora Ephron, who had already been the writer of a small masterpiece, the cornerstone of the comedy film made in the USA, When Harry Met Sally, a springboard for the careers of Meg Ryan, best interpreter of the main character, Sally. The music is very rich and is largely based on a selection of American songs, familiar and unfamiliar, which give rhythm to the film without distracting the viewer with too obvious mentions. |
